Year 11

The transition into adulthood is an adventurous and exciting one for young people. To prepare them to cope with this change, the Year 11 program at Thomas Carr College fosters the development of our young men and women into aspirants within the global community.

In doing so, students are better able to engage in positive friendships and are able to exhibit their potential towards their peers and the wider community.

Whether representing the College through participation in the College Sporting Program or, by involvement in Community Service, Year 11 students are able to actively engage in the wider community and grow as young people. This enables them to become more confident in working within a team environment and in gaining greater sophistication in dealing with others and responding to their particular needs. Ultimately, a student at the end of Year 11 is one who is more civic conscious and more mature in developing skills to assist in the helping of others.

Key activities include The Resilience program and the Community Service Program which involves students working with the Royal Children’s Hospital, Ozanam house, and other community areas such as preparing birthing kits for the Zonta organisation and visiting Glendale Aged Care.

The Pastoral Care program addresses key issues surrounding violence against women, cyber safety, risky behaviours, loss and grief, mental health, child safety and driver education. Students also explore the development of leadership qualities and participate in seminars on career pathways, exam preparation and time management.
