Curriculum Overview

The Learning Pathways for each year level provide current Year 7 to Year 12 curriculum information for students and prospective students and their families.

At Thomas Carr College, we believe that for students to shine their light into the world and to be active members of a globalised world, it is important that they are able to make the most informed decisions about their future. The subject selection process is an opportunity for students to learn more about the subjects offered at Thomas Carr College and to consider their future pathway options based on their strengths, interests, further study options, possible career and pathways options and future aspirations.

Students also have the opportunity to accelerate in studying a VCE Unit 3 and 4 subject as they prepare for Year 12. Students who wish to pursue this option will need to submit an Accelerated Studies Application Form.

Year 12 – Curriculum Overview

At Year 12 students will conclude their journey at Thomas Carr College and will leave with the skills and knowledge to take their place in a globalised world.

Students selecting the VCE pathway will study FIVE subjects. This includes:

  • ONE Unit 3 and 4 VCE English subject (English, English Language and/or Literature)

Students also have the option of selecting to continue as part of the College’s VCE/Vocational Major and Applied Learning pathway options.

When considering their learning pathway and selecting subjects within the senior school, it is very important that students are aware of any prerequisites that are required for any future study they may wish to pursue. Students are encouraged to meet with members of the College’s Careers and Pathways Team to discuss possible study and career options.
