College Vision
Thomas Carr College is a dynamic Catholic learning community, guided by the Gospel. Excellence and opportunities to develop are pursued. Through our hope and service to others, we shine our light into the world.
Learning & Teaching at Thomas Carr College
At Thomas Carr College, we are committed to nurturing a culture of excellence where every learner is known, challenged and supported to flourish. Grounded in our Catholic identity, we create learning environments that are safe, inclusive and respectful, where Faith, Learning and Wellbeing are understood as inseparable. Our students are empowered to develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions they need to thrive in a changing world and to shine in all that they do.

Learning & Teaching the TCC Way
Learning and Teaching the TCC Way is our Instructional Framework. Shaped by the Gospel, MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement, the Berry Street Education Model and enriched by our identity as a Catholic community, it provides a clear, coherent model for what excellent teaching looks like in every classroom.
This framework brings together high impact, evidence-informed practices with consistent, predictable routines and relational pedagogy. It offers a shared language and shared expectations for staff, students and families about how we work together to create classrooms where every learner can grow and succeed.
Our Core Principles
• We educate students to become confident, responsible and community minded learners.
We build respectful, trusting relationships and uphold the dignity of every person. Our approach reflects the Gospel call to help each learner realise their God-given potential.
We aim to inspire young people who recognise their gifts, contribute positively to our community and approach learning with curiosity, responsibility and purpose.
• We build respectful and trusting relationships through safe, supportive and inclusive environments for all.
Strong relationships sit at the heart of Learning and Teaching the TCC Way. Every classroom is a place where students feel known, valued and able to take risks in their learning.
• We adapt teaching to meet the different needs and abilities of all learners and celebrate their achievement and growth.
We recognise that students learn in different ways and at different paces. Our teachers respond to learners’ needs with flexibility, care and high expectations, ensuring all students experience growth.
• We set high expectations through guided challenge and perseverance.
Challenge is an essential part of meaningful learning. We support students to persist, reflect and grow, helping them build the resilience and confidence they need to achieve excellence.
• We model, guide and check for understanding through clear structured practice to ensure every student learns.
Teachers provide clarity and support at each step of the learning process. Through explicit teaching, modelling, guided and independent practice and frequent checks for understanding, every student is given the opportunity to succeed.
Together, these elements guide our efforts to build a thriving learning culture and ensure that all students experience challenge, success and a deep sense of belonging at Thomas Carr College.
A framework that connects Faith, Learning and Wellbeing
Faith, Learning and Wellbeing are at the heart of who we are as a dynamic Catholic learning community. Learning and Teaching the TCC Way affirms that students flourish when their spiritual, academic and personal growth are nurtured together. We recognise that learners thrive when they feel safe, supported and known, and when their classroom environment offers consistent, predictable routines, high expectations and genuine care grounded in our Catholic mission.
Our Collective Aspiration
As a College, we are aspirational, continuously seeking to grow in excellence and to support every student to exceed their potential. Guided by our Catholic identity, our approach is shaped by the MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement, which together emphasise high expectations, deep learning, strong relationships and a culture where every learner is known and valued.
These commitments guide our efforts to build a thriving learning community where all students experience challenge, success and a deep sense of belonging at Thomas Carr College.
