Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a growing part of the College curriculum. Participation in a VET program whilst at school, allows students to learn about industry and employment pathways and gain skills that are relevant to the needs of industry.
Thomas Carr College is a part of a regional cluster of school who offer VET programs to students. These programs are overseen by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and are conducted by fully qualified trainers, some of whom are teachers from the schools. VET programs within the cluster are conducted on Wednesday afternoons. homas Carr College also works closely with other VET providers such as Victoria University, The Gordon TAFE in Geelong, the Kangan Institute and the William Angliss Centre for Tourism and Hospitality, to provide a wide diversity of options for students who wish to follow an industry pathway.
Students are able to work towards and attain a nationally recognised qualification which gives them a head start to an apprenticeship and many employment opportunities.
