Year 9 Jade Good Samaritan Experience 2022

17 June 2022

It may be possible that the Year 9 Jade boys were the last PaLM group to see the sun in Coragulac. Weeks A and B started off with some special moments; sketching botanicals in the Colac Botanical gardens, community service with our Land Care representative Trey at Barongarook creek, Mountain biking at Forrest and chicken whispering from James Wright. The students’ visit to the Californian Redwoods was made extra special by witnessing a marriage and being serenaded by a visiting Yidaki (Didgeridoo) player.

Week C brought some challenging weather that the Year 9 Jade group took in their stride. Richard our Indigenous Elder from Gadubanud country showed the students the shelter he and his family built on the grounds of the Cape Otway lighthouse. The students continued their stoic journey base-camping at Bimbi Park and sightseeing the 12 Apostles and Lockard Gorge. The three weeks could not have been possible without the contribution of Mr Millie and Mr Feletar who generously gave us a week each of their time on this three-week experience.
