Wynspeak 2023

09 June 2023

On Friday 2 June Thomas Carr College hosted the 2023 Wynspeak Final with a successful outcome. It is with great pleasure that we announce the winner of Wynspeak 2023 was awarded to our Year 12 student, Oliver Pond. We wish Oliver the best of luck as he moves into the next stage of the competition.

Wynspeak provides a platform for young people in secondary schools across the Western Suburbs of Melbourne to grow their self-confidence, build their creativity, critical thinking, leadership skills through a public speaking competition. Students build proficiency in public speaking by extending their skills in oral communication, speech writing and research of topics, issues, and ideas within their world and the world around them.

This year Wynspeak held their first competition post Covid, and celebrated twenty years since the pilot program between Westbourne Grammar School and Thomas Carr College was first held in 2003.

Thank you to all the staff, families and peers who have supported all our speakers over the past few months. We also extend our thanks to the Hoppers Crossing Rotary, Apex Club and Wynspeak Board members and sponsors for continuing to provide students with an avenue to thrive in the art of public speaking.

We look forward to being part of Wynspeak in 2024.
