Social Justice

02 May 2024

Our Social Justice and Environmental Teams have been working together to ensure that our College can further support the wider community through everything that we do.

In Term 2, over 100 students and staff celebrated Earth Day by planting a seed of their choice in a peat pot during our ‘Pot a Plant’ lunchtime session. Participants were encouraged to take their pot home and plant it in their garden as a hands-on way to support our environment.

Our Environmental Action Team is working on increasing our sustainability star rating through the Resource Smart Schools (RSC) program. RSC gives school communities, such as ours the opportunity to take ownership on how we look after our local environment. This program also provides us with more focused opportunities in raising awareness on the effect that we all have on sustainability and biodiversity.

Last week, the Social Justice Team had a stall to sell commemorative poppies in the Faith and Mission courtyard during lunchtime. The Social Justice Team sold Poppies and ANZAC Badges to support our local Returned and Services League (RSL) as well as the Red Poppy Appeal. We invited the College Community to stand in solidarity with all Australian and New Zealand service men and women whilst we remembered the ultimate sacrifice that was made by so many to bring freedom and peace to our world. This was a great opportunity for the College to show our compassion, respect and care to those who put others before themselves.
