The Dr Sr Mary Glowrey Centre is a two-level learning space for Thomas Carr College students to collaborate in the varied break out areas, as well as STEAM classrooms.
The building also boasts a study space called the Ngangga Centre (pronounced Ngung-guh) which is a Boonwurrunga word meaning to listen; to hear; to understand. The word was proposed in consultation with the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) and reflects the spirit of this space; a place of learning collaboration and respect.
Dr Sr Mary Glowrey was a Victorian-born and University of Melbourne educated doctor. In 1920, she followed a calling to a medical missionary service in India, where she subsequently became a sister. This learning centre has been named after her, a name chosen by students, because she exemplifies the qualities we hope to inspire in our students – intellectual excellence, deep faith, and a commitment to serving others.
