From the Principal

05 December 2023

On Sunday we commenced the Advent Season, a time for reflection as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s birth and the return of Christ during the second coming. Advent reminds us of the important role Christ plays in our lives, encouraging us to slow down and consider what is most important in life. May the weeks ahead be full of hope, faith, joy and peace for all in our Community.

Today marks the end of the school year for students. Their positive and active participation in the Headstart program has set them up for a successful start to 2024. In my time at Thomas Carr, I have been very impressed by the way in which our students conduct themselves and their willingness to give ‘things a go’. There is a sense of calm across the campus each day, exemplifying engagement in learning and a respect for each person in the student body. I feel so honoured and proud to be working with you all and I thank you to each and every one of you for being you, and contributing to our special Community.

As the year comes to a close for our staff, we farewell a number of members of our community who are moving onto new leadership opportunities or exciting adventures –

  • Jake Azzopardi
  • Daniela Bombardieri-Szabo
  • Debra Bonde
  • Lucy Cassar
  • Mark Johnston
  • Sudhneet Kaur
  • Stephen Manitta
  • Lauren Marett
  • Jasmin Mathews
  • Nicole Ross
  • Michelle Simmons
  • Mason Sullivan
  • Melissa Thompson
  • Mary Udovicic
  • Cheryl-Anne White
  • Stephanie Velings

We wish them all the very best as they enter the next chapter of their careers and are grateful for their contributions.

I would also like to take this opportunity to reiterate my thanks to all of our staff for their continued support and guidance to the young people in our care, I am forever grateful to them.

I wish you all the joys and blessings of Christmas and hope the break is relaxing and rejuvenating for you all.  We welcome 2024, allowing us the opportunity to continue realising God’s plan for each of us.

Take care
