From the Deputy Principal, Staff and Learning Operations

07 March 2024

As we move into the final weeks of the Lenten Term, I would like to express my gratitude and commend all members of our community for the way in which they have continued to build upon the positive start to this year.

This extends to all our new staff for the way they have also started their journey at Thomas Carr College.

New Teaching Staff

At the start of this term a letter was sent to families informing you of the work that is being done to address the impact of the current staff shortage across Victorian schools. This extends to actively recruiting new teaching staff and we would like to welcome the following new staff members to Thomas Carr College:

  • Dr Felix Gyebi (Visual Arts / Technology Teacher)
  • Mrs Gemma Shearer (English / Humanities Teacher)
  • Mr Jack Moloney (Health and Physical Education)

Dr Gyebi has recently completed his doctoral studies which included extensive community work in Ghana. He has a passion for the arts and has developed a strong rapport with his students since commencing at the College.

Mrs Shearer also brings a wealth of knowledge to the College. Drawing on her experience, she will provide wonderful support to students in Years 7, 8 and 9 as they study Humanities and English.

Mr Moloney has worked at the College as a Casual Relief Teacher and will be teaching a combination of Year 7, 8 and 10 Health and Physical Education classes.

We wish all our new teaching staff every success, as they join our dynamic learning community.

We will also continue to provide updates on our current staffing arrangements and look forward to showcasing many more of our staff throughout this year.

If you have any questions related to the College’s current staffing arrangements, please contact your child’s Pastoral and Learning Mentor (PaLM) or Year Level Leader/House Leader.

Any subject specific questions can be directed to the relevant Learning Area Leader.

For all other questions relating to this matter, please contact Andrew Bryson (Deputy Principal – Staff and Operations) at the College.
