Promoting Student Voice and Unity in Diversity

The College is extremely proud of the rich cultural diversity of which we are blessed and this month a group of students began a year-long project focused on promoting inclusion and cultural diversity at the College, through a range of student led initiatives. The College is one of 10 schools in Victoria to be participating in this project and students will attend forums and online mentoring sessions throughout the year to bring their project ideas to life.

Unique to the College’s involvement will be the collaboration between our students here in Melbourne and the College’s VCE partner schools in China; bringing a unique and real global dimension to the student’s experience in working together on projects.

Global Citizenship Ambassador Program partners with the Environmental Action Team

Another group of students have commenced work this term in a Global Citizenship Ambassador Program, where they are devising real work solutions for local issues of concern. The project is being driven by the Environmental Action Team as they work to address sustainability issues and priorities within our College; helping the College move towards becoming an accredited Resource Smart School.

As both these projects move from ideation to implementation, the group members look forward to sharing their progress in future editions of the Beacon and on the College’s social media accounts.

Students interested in these initiatives can speak to any of the following staff Tom Bridges, Amy Venema or Oliver Pond for more information. All are welcome and we encourage more students to put their hand up and get involved.
