Thomas Carr Day

On Friday May 17 we celebrated Thomas Carr Day. Every year in May, we gather together as a whole school community to celebrate our Patron Archbishop Thomas Carr. We celebrate in May as it was a significant month for Archbishop Carr throughout his life – he was born, ordained and died in month of May.

The day began with Mass, which was celebrated by our Canonical Administrator, Fr Jude Pirotta. Mass was followed by the Year Level fundraising stalls and Thomas Carr Day Carnival. On the day, each Homeroom is allocated a stall to raise money for their respective Year Level charities. As a result of the Homeroom stalls the College was able to raise the following amounts for the following charities:

Catholic Care (Family Week): $1,102.10 – Year 7
MSSP: $610.30 – Year 8
Aboriginal Catholic Ministry: $1,198.95 – Year 9
St Vinnies Assist A Student Program: $611.45 – Year 10
Kuya Centre, Philippines: $1,394.81 – Year 11

The total amount raised for 2019 was $4,917.61, a fantastic effort by all!

The day was concluded with ‘Thomas Carr’s Got Talent’. The staff and students were entertained by a number of excellent acts. Congratulations to all who participated.

Overall, the day was enjoyed by all and we look forward to building on Thomas Carr Day in 2020.
