Curriculum Guide Year 10

At Year 11 students study six VCE subjects. Students must choose an English subject as well as choose from among VCE Religion and Society Units 1 & 2 or the Thomas Carr College Religious Education program. In some cases, it may be appropriate for students to accelerate their learning by studying a Unit 3 & 4 subject while they are in Year 11. Students who wish to pursue this option will need to submit an Accelerated Studies Application Form.

The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is an alternate senior secondary qualification that most schools across the state now deliver. It provides a hands-on, project based program with a more flexible approach to education in the later years.

In Year 12, most students complete five VCE subjects. Students must continue with their English learning pathway.  An Advanced Standing Study is a full first year university subject made up of two units, one offered in Semester 1 and the other  in Semester 2. The two courses available are Education and Nursing.

It is very important that students are aware of any prerequisites that are required for future study that they would like to do. Information is available from the Careers room.  Students must ensure that that access this information prior to making their final subject selections.
