Year 8 Reflection Day

17 March 2014 | General Interest

Our Year 8 Homerooms have embarked upon their annual reflection day of spiritual formation and enrichment. The day explored the religious theme, ‘A taste of Jewish Faith’ appropriate to their age but more importantly complemented their current study in Religious Education on ‘Jesus the Jew’. Students thoroughly enjoyed their two hour program at the Jewish Museum of Australia which encompassed interactive activities within various galleries, a tour of the Synagogue Kabbalat Shabbat and a Mock Passover Feast. The visit provided a quality Jewish education to further develop our students’ knowledge of Jesus’ Jewish background which is essential to the way he lived his life. The tour also provided a rich history and culture of Jewish people providing a solid foundation of Jewish identity in Australia today. Upon return, students attended a Jewish art workshop on campus; an opportunity to be creative, reflect and interact with their peers. The day certainly provided a memorable experience for both the students and staff in attendance. Over the years, we have developed a very positive partnership with the Jewish Museum of Australia and to further enhance it this year we intend on sending them some of the stand out student art works designed from the Jewish workshop.
