Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Stall – ‘A special day of self-examination’ Our Social Justice Team followed the tradition of Shrove Tuesday and made delicious pancakes at recess. All donations were directed to the Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Pancakes are associated with the day preceding the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday, they were a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. We encourage our College community to fast with an emphasis on eating plainer food. As well as making pancakes, we learnt about Shrove Tuesday and talked about the good choices that we’re going to make throughout Lent. The students enjoyed making the pancakes, raising money and of course, eating the final delicious product!
