Commencement Mass and Assembly

28 February 2014 | General Interest

On Tuesday February 18, we were blessed to have our Regional Bishop Vincent Long, Fr Jude, Fr Pius and Fr Frank concelebrate our Commencement Mass which followed with an Assembly. This was a joyful occasion where staff, students, VIP guests, parents/guardians and past 90+ students were in attendance to mark the official beginning of the academic year. The theme of our Mass centred on our new College Theme; a message from Pope Francis ‘Entrust yourselves to God and dare to dream’. We listened to the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). This parable shows us that each of us with many talents and sharing our talents helps build our College community, church and follow our dreams. Bishop Long’s homily encouraged us to open our hearts to the Good News with energy and enthusiasm. We personally valued the references to young courageous people of today but also those in our past; men and woman who have stood firmly in their beliefs knowing that our loving Father is with them. Having all members of the College community stop at the exact same in stillness and prayer was truly special; our students certainly rose to the occasion! We really believe that all in attendance would have taken something sacred away whether big or small to build a community.
