Thomas Carr Day 2017

19 May 2017 | General Interest

On Friday May 19 we celebrated another successful Thomas Carr Day.

The day began with a traditional Mass which was followed by a presentation on the history of Thomas Carr College.

At the conclusion of the Mass, the school community made their way outside to the Thomas Carr Day Carinval. There was various food stalls, rides and games on offer for all students and staff to enjoy. Resident DJ, Thomas Eleftheriadis of Year 12 provided music which entertained so many.

As the Carnival drew to a close, the students made their way back into the Fr Tobin Gymnasium to watch 'Thomas Carr' Got Talent.' The staff and students were entertained by a number of excellent acts and the students, who were willing to share their talents, truly did shine. The winners of the talent show were:

• First – Alyssa Hernandez, Ashley Hernandez, Chloe Evangelista and Chelsea Evangelista
• Second – Mary-Rose Vitale and Mackenzie Earl
• Third – Victoria Aiyadi

While Thomas Carr Day is a day about celebreation, it is an excellent opportunity for fundraising. We are pleased to announce that through the hard work and generosity of staff and students, we were able to break our 2014 record and raise the following amounts of money for some very worthwhile causes:

Year 7 raised $942.60 for CatholicCare (Family Week)
Year 8 raised $953.30 for Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Melbourne (Opening the Doors Foundation)
Year 9 raised $960.20 for Catholic Mission (Catholic Mission Month)
Year 10 raised $1,295.40 for ‘Young Paulists’ (St James the Apostle Parish)
Year 11 raised $1,438.50 for St Vincent De Paul Society (Assist A Student Program)

The total amount raised was $5,590.00. Such an impressive effort made by all!
