Malaya Borneo Rememberance Service

8 May 2017 | General Interest

On Monday May 8, we celebrated the Malaya and Borneo Veterans Service at the College. Thomas Carr College has been associated with the Malaya and Borneo Veterans for sixteen years. The service this year was a wonderful occasion led by our College Captains.

National President Mr Owen Marshall introduced veteran Mr Vern Joseph who gave the official address, sharing his experiences with all that were present. Mr Ben Thurlow then recited the Ode, which was followed by the Last Post and a minute of silence.

The memorial stone in our grounds is the first memorial to the Veterans in Victoria and is sited near the College Chapel. During the service, we invited special guests and members of our College community to lay a wreath at the memorial stone.

The service was followed by a light luncheon in the College Dining Room where Veterans and students shared stories and enjoyed in each others company.
