Japan Trip

26 September 2016 | General Interest

In September, a delightful group of 26 students currently in Years 9, 10 and 11 spent 13 days on a Study Tour of Japan. It was a pleasure to see these beautiful adolescents grow before our eyes in every way; linguistically, culturally and personally.

The Japan Study Tour group travelled from Tokyo to Hiroshima, also visiting Himeji, Miyajima, Kyoto, Osaka and Nara during this time. The group stayed in traditional Japanese ryokan, travelled by shinkansen, ate Japanese food, sipped Japanese tea, wore yukata and slept on futon. A total immersion into Japanese life, culture and language.

The highlight of the tour was our visit to the College’s sister school, Sakuragaoka High School, and being involved in classes and activities there. This was a fantastic experience for our students.

The Japan Study Tour is a perfect opportunity to navigate, be empowered, to strive, and to wonder. You don’t necessarily have to be brilliant at speaking Japanese, just prepared to be challenged, to take risks and have the time of your life.
