Thomas Carr Day

20 May 2015 | General Interest

Our Thanksgiving Eucharist was celebrated by Fr Jude and Fr Pius; allowing us to stop to appreciate and give thanks for Thomas Carr’s spirit and legacy which continues to shine upon our College.

Directly after Mass, we looked at the history of our four Houses which play a vital role in building upon our Thomas Carr story. They provide us with a vehicle to participate in sporting and cultural events and also a reminder of our patron’s life journey.

Moylough (Thomas Carr’s place of Birth) – ‘Committed Catholic from a strong Irish Family’
Maynooth (Thomas Carr’s place of formation) – ‘Theologian who trained the clergy’
Westport  (Thomas Carr’s first parish) – ‘Humble priest who supported the poor’
Galway     (Thomas Carr’s first episcopal appointment) – ‘Strengthening the faith as a leader of the Church’

The fun began after Mass, the carnival atmosphere was evident - the stalls were vibrant, the face painting fun, the food venders plentiful and the rides exciting.

The day culminated in the gym with "Thomas Carr's Got Talent" an enthusiastic array of fabulous talent - our students can sing, dance and are accomplished musicians. The smiling faces and loud clapping was a wonderful end to the day!
