Marching on ANZAC Day
28 April 2015 | General Interest
Thomas Carr College has for more than a decade, been affiliated with the Malaya Borneo Veterans Association. On ANZAC Day this year our students were proud and privileged to once again join with the Veterans to carry the Malaya Borneo banner and flags when they marched to the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.
It was wet and cold but that did not deter our students, our veterans and the thousands of people lining St. Kilda Road in Melbourne to honour our armed forces and veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Handmade poppies lined both sides of St. Kilda Road and the steps of Federation Square. Thomas Carr College Textile students are very happy to have been part of the "5000 Poppies Project" and produced 100 poppies to contribute to the display.
After the march Thomas Carr College students were invited to join the Malaya Borneo Veterans for lunch.
