The College celebrates our 15th Thomas Carr Day

7 October 2011 | General Interest

Although the weather created some challenges for us, Thomas Carr Day was a resounding success!

The hard work of a dedicated group of staff and students ensured that the day was enjoyable one for all. I take this opportunity, again, to thank the following committee members:

  • Ged McIntyre
  • Tom O'Connor
  • Payal Tangri
  • Jemila Goodman
  • Liz Vidovic
  • Karen Sheppeck
  • Grace Austin
  • Cameron Hall
  • Steven Razlog (Year 11)
  • Emma Joyce (Year 11)
  • Adam Patten (Year 12)

The introduction of year level activities, such as the chocolate coin toss, jelly eating competition, Wii Dance off, potato sack races, sponge throwing and the Year 12's version of the Amazing Race, provided students with additional entertainment.

Thanks also needs to go to Peter Kigaldie (Year 11) who was the DJ for the day – this was certainly a highlight for many of the students.

We are pleased to announce that $738 was raised on the day. The SRC Executive will determine, early in Term 4, which charity to sponsor with this money.

For the first time, all staff and students came together after the carnival to watch an encore performance of the “Battle of the Bands”. Thanks go to Jesse Delaney, Matt Morse and Donna Arandt who organized this part of the day.

A day like this cannot occur without the amazing support of our staff who all pitched in. We were also very grateful to have the assistance of the following parents, Anne-Marie Bennett, Carmen Gleeson, Gina Buttigieg, Julie Quinn.
