Learning@Home

As a College, we remain committed to fostering a culture of excellence and creating an online learning environment that allows all students to shine across all their subjects. Shaped by our Catholic identity, we place great value in the ability of all members of our faith learning community in being able to engage and connect in such an environment and we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our students, staff and families.

Our LEARNING@HOME model of learning provides staff, students and parents with the guiding principles and a common language in how we can all work in partnership to maintain a high degree of learning in an ‘at home’ learning environment.

ENGAGE

ENGAGE

We aim to co-design a LEARNING@HOME environment that allows teachers, students and families to ENGAGE with a combination of online and self-directed ‘off-line’ learning activities.

CONNECT

We value the importance of teachers and students being able to CONNECT in an online learning community focused on learning and wellbeing.

SUPPORT

SUPPORT

We SUPPORT students to maintain a high degree of learning in this new learning environment.

Key Points For Students

  • To provide continuity to your learning, it is important that you establish a balanced daily routine. Students are encouraged to establish a workable learning routine in this new environment and parents/carers have an important role to play in supporting this.
  • LEARNING@HOME classes will be scheduled as per the current timetable. Attendance will be marked each day and students are to wear a garment of the school uniform (PE Uniform is acceptable) when accessing online classes that require ‘video’ or ‘live’ chats.
  • You are expected to engage in set learning activities as per their 2020 class timetable from 8.30am – 3.10pm.

Students will also receive further information from their subject teachers including an overview of the curriculum to be covered for their subject throughout this term. This is based on the normal number of lessons allocated for each subject as per their regular timetable. LEARNING@HOME course outlines have been developed to assist teachers in conducting daily lessons with their scheduled classes allowing students to learn new knowledge, consolidate and apply their learning whilst in a remote and flexible learning environment.

All information related to our LEARNING@HOME model and key messages for students and parents is available to view by clicking on the link below to access a copy of the LEARNING@HOME Guides for Students and Parents.

Additional Homeroom and wellbeing information is also available by accessing the following resources. Each of these resources can be printed and used by students as a daily checklist to support their ability to engage and connect with their learning each day. Parents are also encouraged to refer to these checklists as a way of supporting and monitoring their child’s learning at home.

We will continue to keep you updated on any further announcements related to LEARNING@HOME via CareMonkey and encourage students to check Daily Messages on SIMON.

We wish all members of our community the best as we share in this LEARNING@HOME journey together.
