Enrolments for Local Students

Enrolment Criteria

Rationale
To ensure that families wishing to enrol a child at the College meet the enrolment criteria, all families must complete an application form. All applications will be considered in accordance with the College’s enrolment criteria and acceptance will be determined by the Canonical Administrators (Parish Priests) and Principal of Thomas Carr College.

Policy Guidelines
Students wishing to attend Thomas Carr College should belong to either the St James Apostle parish in Hoppers Crossing North, the St Peter Apostle parish in Hoppers Crossing or the St Andrew’s parish in Werribee.

The College’s Application Form is available from the Registrar. Information is also available on the College website. Once completed, the Application Form should be returned to the College with the following:

  • non refundable application fee
  • a copy of the child's Baptism Certificate
  • a copy of the child’s last report and/or NAPLAN testing results

Should the criteria be met, the parents/guardians and incoming child will be required to attend an enrolment interview.

Priority will be given to children in the following order:

  • Siblings of students currently enrolled at Thomas Carr College
  • Siblings of past students at Thomas Carr College
  • Catholic students attending St James Apostle Primary School, St Peter Apostle Primary School, St Francis of Assisi Primary School, St Clare’s Primary School and St John the Apostle Primary School who reside within the Thomas Carr College zoning boundary
  • Catholic students attending Catholic primary schools who reside within the Thomas Carr College zoning boundary
  • Catholic students attending government primary schools who reside within the Thomas Carr College zoning boundary
  • Non Catholic students attending St James Apostle primary school or St Peter Apostle primary school (if places are available and in line with Archdiocesan guidelines for the enrolment of non Catholic students)
  • Non Catholic students living within the Thomas Carr College zoning boundary (if places are available and in line with Archdiocesan guidelines for the enrolment of non Catholic students)

In accordance with the above criteria the procedure for application for Year 7 is as follows:

An application form must be submitted with the following:

  • $100 Application Fee (non refundable)
  • A copy of the child's Baptism certificate if the child is Catholic
  • If not born in Australia, a copy of Australian Citizenship documents or a copy of the passport and visa
  • A copy of the child's birth certificate
  • A copy of the child’s Grade 5 NAPLAN results
  • A copy of the child’s latest academic report

Applications must be submitted by in accordance with the Catholic Education Office guidelines

Interviews for all applicants and parents/guardians will be conducted and offers to successful candidates will be made in accordance with the Catholic Education Office guidelines

The procedure for Years 8-12 is:

  • Initial contact to be made with the Registrar to discuss the application
  • An application form must be summited with the following:
  1. $100 Application Fee (non refundable)
  2. A copy of the child's Baptism certificate if the child is Catholic
  3. If not born in Australia, a copy of Australian Citizenship documents or a copy of the passport and visa
  4. A copy of the child's birth certificate
  5. A copy of the child’s last NAPLAN results
  6. A copy of the child’s latest academic report
     

Interviews may be conducted and offers made subject to availability and eligibility
