From the Director of Catholic Identity
We are conscious and mindful of the need to find new ways to enhance our Catholic Identity in the light of the growing demands within our College and the broader Catholic community.
Director of Catholic Identity
Ms Berardinelli was appointed to the staff of Thomas Carr College in January 2004. She has held a number of leadership roles ranging from Assistant Year Level Co-ordinator to Director of Religious Education to Acting Deputy Principal. She is a member of the College Executive, Chair of the Catholic Identity team, SIF Education and Faith Sphere Group Leader and Staff Representative on the College Board.
Anne was appointed to the role of Director of Catholic Identity beginning 2012 and leads a team that will have a whole school focus on Retreats, Curriculum, Social Justice and Liturgy.
This now provides a team approach to faith and mission in the College. We are conscious and mindful of the need to find new ways to build faith development, prayer and sacramental life in the light of the growing demands within our school and broader Catholic community.
The Catholic Identity team has enormous energy, devotion and passion which assist in the development of the new VELS curriculum, outreach programs and special events within the College. We aim to have a dynamic, creative and inclusive curriculum which challenges both staff and students to take themselves away from their comfort zones and inspires them.
Across all year levels, our Religious Education teachers encourage students to reflect regularly in open dialogue with their families about what they are studying in their classes. They are asked to interact with their local community, by carrying out random acts of kindness.
Students are invited to read specific parts of the Bible, to draw their own conclusions about the scriptures and to relate their understandings to their own experiences and contemporary society.
Hopefully, through the Religious Education program, students and staff experience a love of faith and will develop an advance understanding and acceptance of the Thomas Carr Mission Statement and promote the ideals and values of the Catholic Church.
