The demands of secondary school are many and varied. Due to these demands and the Catholic nature of the College, we have a transition program solely focused on supporting our new Year 7 students, helping them to settle in quickly in their new environment.
When a boy or girl enters Thomas Carr College at Year 7, to us it means welcoming them and their family into a community for the next six years of their lives. This is an exciting time in the growth from childhood at primary school through to adulthood on graduation, ready to begin their careers either in tertiary studies or in employment.
With our Student Services Program covering Transition, Peer Support, Student Welfare, along with our Year 7 Camp, we make a great effort to ensure that our new students' transition is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Our College Nurses provide excellent care where any student feels unwell, while our Student Welfare Coordinator is ready to clear up any of the mysteries and challenges associated with the move to secondary school.

At Thomas Carr College, we see our role as providing an enthusiastic and innovative learning environment, to empower our young people to reach their individual potential. To underpin this process there is an active Professional Development Program in place for our teaching staff to acquire new skills so as to utilise the new developments in learning technologies - in particular by integrating appropriate information technologies across the curriculum.
In all that we undertake, we strive to instill in each student an enduring strength and optimism for their future, through membership of the Thomas Carr College community. We hope they will feel themselves to be a valued member of our community and will develop a pride in their school that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
