Student Leadership

Leadership at Thomas Carr, like many other facets of our modern College, is a unique blend of the traditional with the contemporary. There are few other institutions that have such a systematic program of leadership supported by experience, resources and commitment.

We have a firm belief in creating leaders out of every student. The Gospel values of leadership form the cornerstone of our program - students are introduced to the concept of Servant leadership from Year 7 and this is gradually refined and developed until Year 12.

Each Homeroom elects two Class Captains; a relatively formal election process of speeches and voting takes place. Each Year Level then selects two Student Representatives who assume their place on the Student Representative Council. This is one of the primary student voices within the College.

At Year 9 and Year 11 students also have the opportunity of standing for House Captainship. Year 10 presents the opportunity of attending the Leadership Camp; this three-day camp explores concepts, styles and systems of leadership and forms sound foundations for future leadership roles.

Year 12 witnesses a culmination of the program of leadership. Thomas Carr College is rightfully proud of the young men and women who lead by example. A united leadership team of seventeen students actively promotes causes, supports initiatives and creates opportunities. The College Captains are true examples of Gospel Leadership.

Leadership is not about the few. Each student at Thomas Carr is recognized as a leader. We promote leadership of the many for all. It is unique, it is inclusive and it develops young men and young women who are willing and able to match responsibilities with rights.
