The Year 11 Camp is conducted at the end of Term II in order to coincide with the completion of the first quarter of the VCE program. This is an opportunity for students to reflect on their achievements thus far and to look ahead at the year that lies before them, as well as consider the pending decisions that have to be made in Year 12. The students are accompanied to three camps and engage in a range of activities.
The aim of the retreat is simple; it is a period of personal reflection and rest, an opportunity to bond as a group and enjoy time with friends, and a time to be challenged and inspired by provocative speakers. Students are required to demonstrate a serious approach to the sessions although the College does understand that this is a special time for students. Furthermore, the retreat is pivotal in enhancing the self-esteem of the group and developing the relationship between Homeroom Teachers and students.
The theme of the Year 11 Camp is
Justice: the Right Relationship.
Students are encouraged to reflect upon their relationship with others, themselves, their God, and his Homeland which we inhabit. The primary focus of the retreat is to reflect on the relationships we share in order to deepen our appreciation of the gifts of God. This gratitude ought to foster a confidence in our abilities and hence encourage us to be courageous in planning our life. The self-esteem generated by feeling connected to a planet and a plan of God should enable us to support each other and make plans for the future trusting in God’s assistance
